Vitamins have a lot to do with your health. Your body needs certain vitamins and minerals that we get from certain foods every day to keep us alive and healthy. If we do not get a certain amount of these vitamins and minerals we will become susceptible to diseases and viruses. Many of the foods we eat today do not contain enough of these vitamins in them because either they don’t have the vitamins in them to begin with or in the manufacturing process the vitamins and minerals are destroyed or they have very few left in them.
Most of the population today are not getting enough of the necessary vitamins and minerals they need to have a healthy body. Vitamins balance the system and if the system isn’t getting the necessary vitamins and minerals it needs to operate, something is going to go wrong. When this happens, the body is weakened and you are more likely to get the flu or other viruses that are going around. Colds, viruses, pneumonia and other ailments weaken parts of the body and cause other, more serious problems.
In order to help ourselves stay healthy, we need to take supplemental vitamins and minerals to insure that we are getting the daily amount needed to stay healthy. The healthy body fights off illnesses and there is a good chance you will not get the flu or if you do it may just be a mild case. Taking daily vitamins can give you the assurance that your body is getting its daily dosage of vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy.
If the body is healthy its immune system will help ward off viruses and other diseases. With all of the new flu viruses going around we need to do all we can to keep from spreading them and if taking a vitamin a day will maybe help keep us from getting the flu, it is well worth the few dollars the vitamins cost. These natural vitamins and minerals may save us hundreds of dollars in medical bills if we can ward off the virus. Doctor bills and prescription drugs are very expensive.
Not to mention the misery and danger we will go through if we contract any virus. The medical scientific world has come a long way in their discoveries but the simple natural vitamins and minerals taken from natural plants can make a big difference in our health too. For a few bucks a month, you can feel better, be more active and know that your body is not full of synthetics and stimulants. You can possibly save those trips to the doctor because when the flu is going around, you are going to work. Of course there are other precautions you can take too but the natural vitamins and minerals will fight for you from the inside out.

How Do Vitamins Help Make Us Healthier?
April 14th, 2010Vitamin C and Acid Reflux Syndrome Reason for Moderation
March 29th, 2010
Vitamin C affects acid reflux in two different manners. One way is direct, and the other is in a very roundabout way. Many things that are well known for having vitamin C in them are trigger foods for acid flare-ups and the subsequent heartburn. These include many citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, pineapple, and lemons. They are highly acidic, and they also trigger the stomach to produce more acid. Vitamin C is vital for good health, but when the acid production is stimulated by these foods, you have to find alternatives, or you have to take a supplement.
Vitamin C is essential for many reasons. The most well known benefit of vitamin C is that it helps the body fight off colds. It is also a key part of collagen production. Collagen is an essential part of healthy skin, blood vessels, and joint tissues. It is also needed for repair. When you suffer a wound of any type, vitamin C races to the site to help heal. It is also important for the strength and growth of bones and teeth. However, many who find that citrus and vitamin C aggravates or stimulates stomach acid production will avoid the foods, and thus, problems start to appear.
When you notice that you are not getting enough vitamin C, you might be tempted to take a supplement. This is something you should discuss with your doctor before you begin. Though you can get some from supplements, they can cause problems. If you are taking too much, your body must work overtime to get rid of the excess. This can lead to liver damage over time. It might also contribute to joint pain in some people. If it is used excessively, it can produce softening of the bones. Also, these supplements can trigger excess acid production and irritation in the stomach in the very same ways that citrus fruits will. It is far safer to find your vitamin C in food sources that will not trigger your acid reflux.
There is some food sources for vitamin C that you can include in your diet to make up for what you are not getting from the more obvious sources. If you find that citrus does not bother you very much in regards to your acid reflux syndrome, then you can eat those and be done with it.
However, if it does bother you, as it does many others, you should try to have some of the following each day and even each meal. You can try papaya, strawberries, bell peppers, brussel sprouts, broccoli, kale, cantaloupe, and kiwi. Some may exacerbate symptoms but you may find you can get what you need from some of them. Tomatoes are a great source, but they tend to aggravate acid reflux.
If you are concerned about your vitamin C intake, you can talk to your doctor. Remember that a supplement might actually do more harm than good if you have acid reflux syndrome, and many doctors will not suggest taking vitamin C as a supplement. If your doctor recommends the supplement, taking them in small doses in the middle of meals might help reduce excess acid production. Keep track of what foods you are eating and how many supplements you might be taking. Remember that the body does not store vitamin C, so you should find out what your body needs each day, and make sure you are getting it from the foods that are easily tolerated by your system.

Kiwi’s Vitamin Rich Content
March 15th, 2010
Studies have shown that one of the ways to be healthy is to eat a certain amount of fruits daily. It doesn’t always have to be an apple, banana or an orange since there are a large variety of these in the supermarket that changes depending on the season.
An interesting fruit from the China that is now planted and harvested in the United States is the Kiwi. These are oval in shape about the size of a hen’s egg and have to be peeled before it can be eaten.
When it is opened, people will notice that it is either bright green or golden in color with seeds inside. It may look different but the taste can be compared to a banana, pineapple or a strawberry.
Not only are these fruits delicious but it also provides a good amount of vitamins c that the body needs. The Kiwi has been known to have high concentrations of vitamin C. One piece that comes from a tree contains 74 mgs while those that are bought in the supermarket and are stored in a cooler will only have 57 mgs.
Why the reduction in the number of mgs of Vitamin C? This is because some of it is lost when these are harvested, washed and refrigerated until this is bought by a customer.
The Kiwi is also known to have amounts of Vitamin A and E. Although scientists have not been able to pinpoint yet it’s properties, those who eat the fruit are able to get antioxidants, which keeps the skin smooth and healthy.
In fact, the more Kiwis that a person eats, the greater the chances of avoiding respiratory related problems such as colds, cough and shortness of breath.
Kiwi is also rich in fiber. Studies show that is can lower the level of cholesterol thus reducing the likelihood of heart disease or even a stroke. When rated among a variety of fruits such as mango, strawberry and watermelon, it ranked number one in terms of minerals such as copper, phosphorous, potassium and magnesium.
This fruit is also used tenderizing meat. People may not notice this when this is eaten and some call it the secret ingredient that makes the meal tastes so good in a barbecue.
Not everyone though can eat kiwi. This is because it also contains similar protein dissolving enzyme that is found in papayas or pineapples. This means it can’t also be served with milk like how banana is placed with frosted flakes and milk.
In order to get the richness of its vitamins, people are advised to cut it open and eat like a mango or a pineapple. If eating the hairy skin is not to the person’s liking, this can be scooped using a spoon then placed into the mouth.
Kiwis are ideal when these are placed in salads or used as a fruit tart. This means it can be served well before the main course or the last thing people will have as dessert, which everyone will have before going home after a hearty meal.
Indeed, Kiwi is rich in vitamins A, C and E as well other things that are needed for the body. One can go to the supermarket and buy a few to taste and experience the difference.
